hi, completing a Christmas present from 2020, and visiting my adoptee at Enstone, if fingers and toes crossed i'm allowed from July 19th, have not been there since the eighty's so really looking forward to the visit. Also being in the vicinity of Kidlington also not visited since the eighty's, i thought why not, so whats the views like from inside the airport, according to google there are public roads, and i would be on foot, so can much be seen? From memory Langford lane gives a good view across the airfield...
stay safe, regards, dave...

Hello Dave, reference Kidlington.I pulled up quickly in Langford lane in the small rough layby. The hedges are very tall now, but cross the road and you can see through a crash gate.Did not explore any more because i was in a lorry. I think another member Dave Allum? posted a log recently and managed to get better access. Was at Enstone last year, very helpful both sides, lots of interesting stuff.

Hi Dave
There are viewing points on 3 sides of the field-
1) The lay-by and crash gate on Langford Lane to the south, Views from the lay-by are limited at this time of year due the high hedge. 2) The crash gate on the west side next to the A44 3) Northside- but can’t remember where exactly as not used it for years!
However, if you’re on foot, then probably only Langford Lane will be of interest out of those options.
You can now go into the airport by the road- security are still there although the barrier has gone. I think security prefer you to check in with them so that they are aware of you if they get a call. They seem to have no issue with spotters now as long as cameras aren’t used within the airport. That is MY understanding of the situation anyway.
Once you follow the road into the airport you’ll see most things that are outside- there are a lot of hangars now and some more massive ones being built!
When you’re there, I think it’ll be obvious where to go!
If you need G-APWL glider, then don’t forget to check the Pilot shop opposite the airport- the glider hangs from the ceiling in there.
Hope this helps Cheers Phil

PWL , and the pilot shop are long gone, now a building site. When you enter the airport take the first left, there is a car park. The building in front is a gym walk to the right of this then around the back. Here you can see all the biz tucked in the corner. Then just follow your nose past security and you can view by the terminal and down the side of Airbus. Been here several times this year with no issues. So diffrent than it used to be. Rob
