Just a brief update to say that 3 Phantoms are due to be roaded in to Kemble to join the Buccaneers. The first arrived either last evening or early this morning from Bruntingthorpe. A second is due from there and the third is, I believe, ex Manston.
I do not know the serials but I am sure they are well known to those who are interested! I think they will be present for some time!!

Extract from a recent posting on the FB social media page of the British Phantom Aviation Group;
“With the extraction of ZE360 from DFTDC Manston complete and that aircraft secure for now (in a temporary hangar at Manston Airport) , it is time to turn our attention to moving both XT597 and XT905 to their new home at Kemble”
Obviously the move is well underway, but just to confirm the airframes involved.

When I was by the Britannia on SATURDAY ,there was quit a bit of RAF Jigs on the North part of the taxiway and a tail of a 43sqn F-4 on a trailer.
The tail is nethier from XT597(Raspberry Ripple c/s) or XT905 (Black Tail)

The badge and fin tip marks on the tail of the Phantom on the trailer are 19Sq and code L is faintly visible. Not checked what that makes it yet.

Yes, I was at Kemble on Tuesday and saw the jigs opposite the Britannia. Looking at my records, all three have appeared at various IAT's in the 80s and early 90s.

That would fit as XV411 was finally broken up at Manston last year and having collected ZE360 from the fire school there it would be possible that the BPAG also acquired the fin (at least) of XV411.

They did, Dave, plus some other useful bits and pieces. The following is a post on FC
The BPAG are saddened to report that on 30/11/2020 the scrapman came and removed the mortal remains of FGR.2 XV411 from the grounds of the former DFDTC Manston. Unlike ZE360, which luckily avoided burning, XV411 was used in live fire training exercises numerous times and for the past few years could only really be described as a derelict airframe. Despite this fact, it is always a shame to see a mighty Phantom pass away.
However, the aircraft will live on in a small way through the BPAG. The owners of most of the remaining aircraft at Manston, Spey Bay Salvage, generously agreed a deal to allow us to recover as much as would be useful to us from the airframe during its last few days. This ended up including the fin and a multitude of internal components that are still in restorable condition. Although in rough shape, the fin is intact and will be repaired and preserved for future display.
Many thanks to our members and volunteers for getting their hands (very) dirty, Wayne and his crew from Spey Bey and Stuart Mann from Reclemet for their invaluable assistance and the Commandant and staff at Manston for their co-operation. Finally, sincere thanks go to Richard Murray, owner of SBS, without whom this could not have happened. . They also have the fin of XV494/O (56 Sqdn colours), previously at Brenzett Aeronautical Museum.

hi, good news this, i've already seen those that have been mentioned, but i've got a hour of photo time for Phantoms, them and the Hunter i think are the best looking of RAF aircraft. Even had my photo taken in 63-7471 a F.4C at Lakenheath back in 1988...

1st July 2021 Kemble Phantom XT905 has a large letter 'P' on the fin with a picture at the side of the P within an eliptical shape of what could be described as a JACKAL. Seen when on my Gloucestershire and Warwickshire road trip today. Les

I'm sure that the effects of weathering have made the squadron badge deteriorate somewhat beyond reasonable recognition.
However, I suspect that the whole of (animal) "tiger-dom" will be grossly offended by the comparison with that particular scavenger.

Back in 1986 she was O of 56 Sq who had red chequerboard fin tips while 19 Sq had blue ones, albeit badly faded after her years in the open at Manston.
