I once saw three VT on the move once on M25. On the port side by pilots door was a metal plate with VT reg on it and was readable from the moving vehicle so quite sizeable letters.
The place was very hostile in the past, moving lorries to block views deliberately so approach with care. I did not go on site but was followed as I moved on public land from one side to the other until I went back to old railway at which point expletives were shouted (at me not by me!) and a lorry repositioned to block them. Luckily I had got pictures from there first.

Hi Phil, Re the Staverton tours, I emailed the chap (Keith), who used to organise things, last week but to this point I’ve not received any response. The last time I spoke to him (my last tour) about 2 years ago, he said that a new GM had joined the airport and one of the first things he did was to suspend the Hangar tours… If I get a response I’ll let everyone know but I suspect they may have stopped, permanently. Love your reports mate and you’ve definitely sparked my interest for a visit to Tewkesbury. I missed all the Indian’s when they were down near Gatwick… Anyway, keep the reports coming mate. Bill Hi Bill thanks for the info- yes please, let me know if you hear anything re Staverton tours (one way or the other!) Happy to arrange or help arrange anything there and/or elsewhere if we can ever get back to normal! cheers, see you soon

I think I was unnoticed as I peered from the public footpaths. The only hope is that they might be persuaded with an organised visit and a donation- but I won’t hold my breath !! cheers Phil

Thanks Phil- Every little bit of info helps- but at least we know someone got access, so hopefully my lovely scouse accent together with my boyish 70 year old good looks will do the trick- never the less will be going one way or the other. Happy Days Bob

Phil/Bob, Last request re Tewksbury- where did you park when you went to have a look- from the area around Egewicks- it looks like there lots of double yellow lines. I was considering driving into one of the housing estates and using one of the public footpaths. I would be grateful if you could point me in the best place to park. Bob

Hi Bob
I parked right outside the yard- there was space on the road outside with no double yellow, literally opposite the entrance gates.
Next to those gates is the public footpath which runs along 2 sides. Walk round this and you’ll get a view across the yard when the footpath rises.
Hope this help Cheers Phil

Well done Wilbur.
Yep, I can confirm, that Keith just responded to my email which suggests that with the new GM, who may well be more inclined to allow us enthusiasts back in, with Keith’s guidance, around the many (not all) hangars…
🤞🤞

Hi Bob, indeed , Bill arranged a couple of hanger tours at Staverton, must have been around three years ago now, if I recall, the chap who very kindly showed us around was Keith and I think we chucked a tenner in the charidee box each. EDIT - just checked and we did two hanger tours within a month, 18 October 2018 and then 15 November 2018. Despite the second tour being just a month later, I still made an additional dozen or so frames so it does indeed show what lurks inside closed doors at Staverton. Keith took me round a few years back on the condition that I didn’t make public any photos that were taken inside the hangars. I could do with another tour now so keep me in mind if you plan one please.

Then finally a quick stop at Woodperry, near Beckley Woodperry 30/06/21G-BIGB Bell 212 N260A B.206B (Unfortunately G-UHGB that I also wanted to see was away up north- one for next time!) Then I rushed down the M40 and M25 and miraculously made it to Thorpe Park for 6.30. Even more miraculously, my daughter and friends came out on time too! A successful day- a few photos to follow! I’ve never heard of this, is it a heliport?

A heli-lift company operate from here. I believe they have a hangar and office there, but from the public road (country lane) that I viewed from, it’s just a field (as per the photo!) It’s about 10 miles SE of Kidlington.
