now I have mixed reservations about the next couple of strips so they are under the same heading . with Ashcroft they ask for you to phone beforehand, which duely done I was granted access . I was asked not to take pictures whilst there for one reason or another but I am not sure this meant not posting a log on the internet. seemed fairly friendly but a bit apprehensive. about a half a mile up the road is another smaller strip where I noted G-BMFG DORNIER DO27 coming out of. from here I went to STRETTON but got completely lost so I moved on to WOOLSTON MOSS . again I was allowed access but asked not too publish a report as I quote we don,t want anymore k---heads finding out about us and causing problems. another strip visited by dumb and dumber and giving us a bad name. must say I didn,t need anything here as most of them turn up at barton for fuel anyway ! regards bob

Hi Bob It is such a shame that some of our local strips have become anti-spotter due to a small minority of idiots. Woolston Moss was always a friendly place until some idiots called at the bungalow next to the hangar demanding someone gave them access, even though the owners of the bungalow have nothing to do with the airstrip. Stretton is in the NE corner of the old RN airbase and the enterance is on Swineyard Lane, it looks like a private drive to a house. The owner also runs a business from here called TR Bits In the SW corner of the old airbase is a microlight strip known as Hawks View or Barley Hey The entrance is on Arley Lane, but I have always found it locked when I have visited several hundred yards south of Hawks View is a private farm strip with an N reg twin based there, also heard reports of a helicopter being based cheers Chris

I think I found your other place though . it had some very high gates and an intercom to the house .I thought I had arrived as there was a windsock in front of the house but the good lady of the house assure me I hadn,t and tried to guide me back . regards bob

Yes, a real shame, makes you wonder who some of these so called "aviation enthusiasts" think they are. Not sure what happened there about 18 months ago but it used to be free access to one of the farm strips at Chiseldon near Swindon, now there is a sliding heavy duty security gate and no one even answers the intercom any more.
Then you look at strips like Clench Common where they tell you to help yourself to a cup of tea in the hut.
