The KC-135 57-1488 was on its way home to Fairchild AFB (WA), having completed its two week TDY. It actually departed Geilenkirchen the day before, but diverted into Mildenhall with an issue.
The Geilenkirchen TDY is undertaken solely by ANG units, so It should be noted that this frame was actually "representing" the Washington ANG unit 116ARS/141ARW which has no aircraft of its own, but borrows from 92ARW as required.
