Does anyone use the Canon SX70. If so, what is the quality of the photos. I like the idea of the long zoom (21- 1365mm) on this camera.

Thanks for the gen, I have seen the reviews, just wondering if anyone had any first hand knowledge. I use a Nikon D80 and a D90. I also use a Lumix FZ200 (25 - 600mm f2.8 throughout) when I don't want to carry the weight of a larger camera. I am thinking of the larger zoom both for aircraft and also bird watching.

Like the photos Jeff, especially the Starling. Just been looking at this camera on review and it may be the one I am after. Thanks. The P1000 is just a little too expensive.

I have to say that having spent years lugging around two Canon 7D bodies plus a selection of four or five lenses, then looking at the quality of Jeff's shots, I'm seriously considering going down the same route. As Jeff says, the only issue would be the inability to take bursts of shots, subjects like high speed fly bys where you fire off a load of shots and then hopefully have the one good one that's worth keeping. But I certainly wouldn't miss the combined weight of a 7D with a Sigma 150-500mm attached.

Sorry to be a pain but the grey cells are playing up ! I take it that the fantastic shots were with the Nikon P950 ? Like many others it would seem , I am looking to a bridge camera as it is easy and quick to change from a shot at say a static aircraft to one that is flying . Chrisj

Burst shots can also be used on these bridge cameras. They just take a little time to recover once you finished the burst. It's worked for me on my Lumix FZ200 quite well

I've always attended shows with two Canon bodies, one with a 18-135mm attached and the other with the Sigma 150-500mm telephoto. It all weighs a tonne and is very cumbersome to cart around all day. I have taken what I consider to be some good aerial shots with the Sigma at the likes of Yeovilton, Fairford etc but I'm no spring chicken these days and am really considering going down the bridge route, especially now such high zooms are commonplace.
The thought of walking around at Fairford and Yeovilton all day with just a bridge hanging round my neck is very appealing.

I recieved my new Nikon P950 this morning and my initial thoughts are that it is very good. Got a couple of good shots around my bird feeders even though it is dull today. Thanks Jeff for pointing me in the direction of the P950.
