Can anyone help out here please? Apparently, the 7D stores this info which is by all accounts easily accessed via the camera's menu. The manual says to go into the menu beneath the third "spanner" icon, select "battery info" then press the "set" button. This shows the shutter count on my 7D as "144" but is that 144,000 or what? I don't think it can be anything like 144,000, I've owned the camera for five years and have barely used it for two years, so it is not likely that the "144" can be right, if indeed it does mean 144,000.
Any insights please?

I have been looking at the same info from Canon EOS 80D which says 91 and that is the shutter count since last battery charge. Just checked the same info on my 90D and it goes up by one every shutter release, and is definitely since my last battery recharge. Just changed battery and count goes back to 0.

Thanks Graham, so it's only the actuations since the last battery charge then which doesn't really help us? There are various online programmes to download which profess to show the info if you plug the camera into the PC but I'm always wary about downloading anything I don't know about. Given the huge raft of info that our cameras DO hold, you'd think a tally of actuations would be easy enough to include..
