Hi all
ZZ (Phil) has very kindly arranged a trip to see the dozen or so helicopters that are based here. The date that's been chosen is Tuesday 30th November at a time yet to be arranged. The tour apparently lasts for about two hours, the cost per person is £20 to include tea, coffee and lunchtime sandwiches so from that I assume it'll be an am tour.
They've given no clear limit to numbers as long as the group is "manageable" so we're thinking that 30 would be about maximum, maybe we could push that to 35 if the demand is there. We have about 25 spaces available and obviously, as an online forum, it will have to be on a first-come-first-served basis.
According to Google Maps the centre is located partway between Crewkerne and Chard off the main A30 route so it's a long haul for many and I appreciate it may be well out of practical range for many of us.
So, if you'd like to come along, please add your names below. Phil is awaiting advice from the centre as to whether the money is payable on the day or in advance.
A big "thank you" to Phil as always.

Thanks Graham the Historic Helicopters group have just advised that it’s pay on the day, but they do require an accurate number in advance. So please only put your name down if definitely coming!! At this stage, I suggest plan on a meet there somewhere around 10-11am, but I will confirm this time soon! Cheers Phil Ps. Here is a list of based helis according to eurodemobbed. Most of us have probably seen most, if not all of them, although possibly not since they had a civil registration allocated…. Plus it’s a good chance to see then all together as well as have an AFA meet up! www.eurodemobbed.org.uk/locations.php?location=4959

Well done for arranging, Phil. I would have liked to join you, but about 4 hours each way is just a bit too much in one day. Phil

Well done for arranging, Phil. I would have liked to join you, but about 4 hours each way is just a bit too much in one day. Phil Thanks Phil i thought it might be a bit too far for a lot of people, especially as there are only a dozen or so helis there (although my mate is coming from Derby in a day!) I’m intending to call at Yeovil and Yeovilton on the way back to hopefully boost the numbers slightly! Cheers Phil

On the outside chance that it helps anyone, Historic Helicopters have said that they have rooms available there… I have no idea what they’re like, how much…. etc, but can ask for details if anyone is interested.
I think there are 7 of us going so far…? Anyone else interested?

Thanks Phil, it's only an 80 minute run for me from Devizes so quite doable, but the rooms sound great for anyone contemplating a longer ride.

Sadly tied up with meetings that day, but Lynx XZ616/G-LNKX made its first post restoration flight at Chard today. Shame you can’t make it Dave. But fantastic that there should be such an array of helicopters back in the air again soon!

No problems at all Graham!

Assuming Jeff is coming we have 12- so I’ve told them 12 but will confirm that figure at the beginning of next week, so last couple of days if anyone wants to add their name….

Hope you have a good day Phil and all- but work commitments and a 438 mile round trip and only needing six of the helicopters at the location does not make it worth the trip down to Chard. Thanks again though for organizing the visit. Happy Days Bob

Cheers Bob, yes that’s a bit far! Just the 190 mile round trip for me!
My mate is coming from Derby (390 mile round trip) and he, like me, has seen all the helicopters but wants to see them again now that they’re civil registered- even though they won’t carry those registrations! What a ridiculous hobby…

Morning, a quick question re tomorrow, is the £20 cash only, card only or can either be used?

Morning
They’ve never specified, so if able, I’d suggest be prepared for either payment. But I’m sure we can sort it out between us all if required.
Hope everyone Is able to make it still, despite the snow. Hopefully no more snow and it’s supposed to be quite a bit warmer tomorrow!
See you all tomorrow at 10.30 !
