Definitely a big thank you to Phil for organizing this worthwhile trip and, of course, to Historic Helicopters for coming up trumps with an amazing and informative tour, not mention the welcome refreshments after being in that biting wind.
Good to put faces to names - especially Graham. After all, we live only 7 miles apart, but have never met before. lol
A good morning indeed.

Morning TJ and Bob, yes indeed, great to get out and see those helicopters as well as seeing old friends and putting faces to new ones. I thought it was a superb tour, Peter and his team certainly know their stuff and as always, a big thanks to Phil for arranging the day.

Morning all
Glad everyone enjoyed it and it was good to see everyone. Received an email from the owner, Andrew last night-
Hi Phil Glad you guys had a good day. I’m pleased to say that we just about finished testing the Lynx Take care and pop in if your passing Best Andrew
I’ll reply shortly to say thanks to him and Peter for a great morning. For those that weren’t there, we fortunate to see the Lynx test-fly - I’ve put a log in the Museums and collections thread- hopefully people will add their photos.

Afternoon Guys,
Really great visit yesterday, brilliant welcome and tour by Peter and above all, seeing and meeting some of our members and finally some some fantastic helicopters…
There’s no question ‘Historic Helicopters’ have a fantastic set-up down between Chard and Crewkerne, run and operated by some extremely professional people.
Huge Thanks must go to Phil (ZZ) for another thoroughly enjoyable day out for us AFA members - thanks Phil.
Below is my log for Yeovilton which, barring the Air Show’s, was about the busiest I’ve ever seen it. Plenty of Tutor activity, loads of Wildcat’s and at least two Merlin’s…
G-BYWM, G-BYVF, G-BYXS (all doing circuits) plus two more, one parked outside the hangar, one inside. ZZ382, ZZ531, ZZ524, ZZ403, ZZ377, ZZ525, ZZ517, ZZ391, ZZ393 Wildcats. There were three others we could not ID (one that Jeff got a photo of…). ZJ131/P, ZJ126/K, ZJ120/D, ZK001/AF all Merlin’s. XF690/G-MOOS Provost - not fully ID’d but was parked outside the RNHF hangar.
There was also an unidentifiable Sea Harrier parked to the left of the Tutor hangar - if anyone can confirm this I/we’d appreciate it.
Sadly I didn’t make any of these nor either of the un-confirmed choppers over at Yeovil, ZZ378 Wildcat, ZH864 Merlin, both were parked outside on the flight line.
I only made 3 frames the whole day which, although disappointing, would not have stopped me going.
Hope you all got home safely.
Bill

Bill-
also at Yeovilton whilst we were there were
ZZ380 and ZZ375, plus ZZ386 which was in the line of 3 (behind 382)
At Yeovil I read off ZZ378 and FighterControl gives the Merlin as ZH864. We also saw Saudi HMH-1 and HMH-2 tightly bagged at the western end - a few bits of the actual helicopter were visible!

Hi Bill, I'm lucky in that driving past YEO several times a month, I often call in and as such, don't need any based Wildcats, Merlins or Tutors. As far as I know there are three Sea Harriers at YEO. ZH800/801 are usually parked out on the field but they must move them around occasionally I guess. Did you get a code at all?
ZD578 Sea Harrier FA.2 41H-912041/P22 Royal Navy coded 122, on display at main gate which must mean it was either..... ZH800 Sea Harrier FA.2 NB05 Royal Navy coded 001 but is really ZH801 ZH801 Sea Harrier FA.2 NB06 Royal Navy coded 123 but is really ZH800

Hi Phil, Well I certainly hope that ZZ380 was one of them, that would take me from 3 to 4 frames for the day!!! Cheers Phil. Bill

Bill- Rob and I both wrote ZZ380 whilst down the side road with you. I also wrote it down when I stopped in the morning on the way to Chard.
Jeff- thanks! I THINK that’s 398 which I need - but I’ll wait until I see it again for definite!! Cheers

Re Yeovil- a comment on FC is now suggesting that the 2 Saudi Merlins are in a hangar and the 2 bagged ones outside are the ones that have been there for several months- believed to be ZR342 and ZR346 !

As I am a total pratt....I missed this and as Oaksey didn't hold a vintage heli day this year either.....I would very much like to join any future visit to Chard, if, indeed, one is arranged!
So....let me be the first to request my name be added to any future visit list, please!!
Graham, the dopey Whitebear!

Hi Graham, there was mention of an open day/airshow there next year, I didn't make note of the date though 🙄
