A big ask from more than half a century ago, I distinctly remember my Dad taking me and my brother to Blackbushe when I was about nine years old in 1965, we lived in Basingstoke so it was a quick run up the A30. My Dad had a well off friend who owned a new PA28 and he had offered to take us for a ride. I remember seeing the lines of Dragonflies there, there must have been at least fifteen or so looking rather forlorn. Would anyone know which frames were there please?

Hi Graham
Just done a quick Google search and it came up with photographs on the ABPIC website. Photos were taken around 1964 to 1966 and show the following - WP504, WP495, WP493, WP500, WP497, WG664, VX597, WN499, WG749, WG707 and WG670.
Hope that helps.
Have a good Christmas.

I have a list but just checking the arrival and departure dates in case that helps & will advise. I logged 19 different ones on visits between 65 & 67. In the meantime some rather poor quality shots from some 55 years ago, the second being a Proctor that kept them company for ages and you would no doubt also have seen. Trying to remember which one it was. I'll get back with my results. IMG_2401 by dave tompkins, on Flickr IMG_2404 by dave tompkins, on Flickr

Blowing the dust and the odd hibernating dodo off my original logs it seems that the Proctor was G-AJLS. I seem to have visited Blackbushe on 3 July 1965, 4 September 1965 (for the show) and then not again until 18 February 1967. On both visits in 1965 I only logged the same 8 Dragonflys but all 19 were logged on my early 67 visit. As I have a full log of everything on the field that day in September 65 (including a USAF C47, Canadian T33 and 6 RAF Jet Provosts) it would seem that the other 11 must have arrived sometime after that date, but probably not by that much. I thought I had actual arrival dates but if I have they are successfully hiding somewhere. Perhaps someone on Peter Brown's excellent Blackbushe site might have these. Details of the 19 below with the markings carried & dates I first saw them at Blackbushe - hope it helps a bit

hi again, i've remembered i saw a Blackbushe site on AirNet website, blackbusheairport.proboards.com/thread/62/old-movement-logs?page=1the old movement page has Jan-May 1965, on the April list it says "and the start of the arrivals of the dreaded Dragonfly's" it mentions about 6-7, but there are other movements that might jog the cells... stay safe, regards, dave...

Fabulous stuff Dave, huge thanks to you and your logs.
I've been reliably informed by my brother who came along on the day that the date of our visit wasn't 1965 but was 1st August 1966. The reason he's so sure is because he said it was the day after England won the World Cup and our Dad, being a huge football fan, was so jubilant.

Hi
I dug out my copy of Wrecks and Relics third edition published in May 1968 and that had 7 still at Blackbushe and the others had moved to Wisbech by then. All registrations quoted tie up with those quoted above.
