Fabulous, took me straight back to those balmy long ago days and shows just how popular the Queen's Building was. Think the lady announcer was the one I mentioned in my earlier post.

Wind the clock forward by nine or ten years and I would have been there Dave, pretty sure my first visit was in 1967. The crow's nest on the QB was fantastic, such a shame it's gone forever.

By way of contrast, check out all the latest state of the art aircraft and ground support equipment at Croydon airport in the 1930's - it just highlights how aviation seems to undergo a complete metamorphosis every 30 years!
NB: I saw this video on PPrune today but as it just provides a link to YouTube, credit to whoever brought this to our attention.

Thanks for digging that one out for us to look at Graham- some fantastic aircraft on show some which I actually had seen- as Dave said, how popular the Queens Building was- one of the great losses especially to us spotters. Also the lad doing the logging for his mate, has the munchies, if he stopped eating for a minute he may have put the correct registrations down. Happy Days Bob

Great find Graham. Such a lovely set of memory joggers….
My mum used to have a photo of me in shorts sitting spotting on the open terrace there… Must have been 1961/2… Sadly all those logs got lost and the photos misplayed over the years but can still remember those days….
What a shame we weren’t all mates in those days….
Keep them coming mate.

What a great shot Jeff, you and the background as we all fondly remember at LHR. You look like you had a good tan.
Thanks for the link to the film, I've never seen that before and will have to watch it. Just love all those 60s Brit films when London was capital of the world. The posh bloke standing by the police desk was one of the mini drivers in the original "Italian Job" I think.
