Such a loss to aviation saw it on numerous occasions the first time being at Paris in 1973 as CCCP-82060 1973? I remember seeing it for the first time at Paris in 1989, carrying the Russian shuttle. I thought that this was not long after the An-225’s first flight?

Phil, You are correct -senior moment by myself, must be as I am a pensioner - checking the photo's I have from Paris in 1989 you are correct it was 1989 almost 33 years ago scary. But I have seen it on numerous occasions I think that's right. Also I did go to Paris in 1973 and 71 and also 70. Happy Days Bob

Just found this on the net re the AN225:- After some speculation on the fate of the aircraft, the good news came out: it has not been damaged. Some sources say it is safe in Georgia (but the flight has not been recorded on aircraft tracking sites).Don't know how good the info is but if correct it is good news. Bob

It also sounds like the Bermuda register may cancel all Russian operated aircraft if I understand Liz Truss’ statement today.

Interesting point. Does the operator hold the log book, or is held by the leasing company?

Just seen some video footage of the hangar- despite the hope the aircraft managed t get to Georgia- sadly it did not and it was in the hangar but is now in half. Sad days indeed. Bob

My only sighting of it was at Farnborough 1990 when it was CCCP- registered, and I was lucky enough to see it fly. It only flew on a few of the days.

I was lucky to see it as both a CCCP (at FAB, the same year as you Phil) and then as UR in 2014 when it went past home westbound. Such a tragedy that it's gone.
