hi, i've got high cloud now so just keeping a eye out for low stuff or Manchester deps south bound, and a thought came to me, and you know what they say the stupidest question is the one you don't ask... so, is there any advantage in using a foreign reg, cause apart from the shed load of US regs, i'm watching VH-LNJ a P.28A from either Egginton or Tatenhill i think as its circling them.
regards, dave...

Not a stupid question in my opinion. I am far from being a financial whizz-kid, but in most cases I think it's a financial thing (many business aircraft being registered in places like the Channel Islands, Cayman Islands etc) Whether this is the case with your PA28 I don't know. I mourne for the days when, if you saw an Italian aircraft, it had an I- registration; or D- for German aircraft. And you could be pretty sure that's where the aircraft was flown from.

I'm sure we have members here who would know the ins and outs of this but as far as N reg aircraft are concerned, I believe any American citizen living abroad can operate an aircraft with the N prefix.
