Transiting Naples last month I took a few shots from the aircraft of the two main storage areas. Read most of them but in one area was a grey ATR42 & an A320 engineless and in primer as below. Just in case, grateful if anyone has ideas of their identities? IMG_3208 by dave tompkins, on Flickr IMG_3208A by dave tompkins, on Flickr

Hi Dave
There’s a strong possibility that the A320 is an ex-Indigo airframe (ex- VT-IHN c/n 4510) which is currently allocated regn D-AAAU with Lufthansa Tecknik. Reported to have been Stored at Naples for a while now.
Apologies, haven’t come up with any ATR i/d at present.
HTH
Regards
Steve

My thought on the ATR is still that its a Guardia di Finanza machine from the colour and the small titles (albeit unreadable on my picture) above the front left door, but hopefully time will tell. Best wishes Dave

It now seems that VT-IHN was still stored at Manila on 1 May, performing a test flight there on 12 May and ferrying from there to Naples only on 8/9 June this year. So looks like my stored one must be a different aircraft.

The only other A320 I can suggest is SX-DGN ex-Aegean c/n 2828 awaiting move to Avion express This looked less likely than my original punt, but might be worth a look HTH Steve

No worries Steve, good of you to take the time and its useful to have likely candidates even to rule out as that itself narrows the search. The ATR & 320 are blocked from view from the terminal area by the larger types and I only noticed them while taxying down taxiway TS for a runway 24 departure. There are two separate storage areas on the far side, the first (with just 737s) is partly blocked behind a hangar so some went unrecorded. What I did note in store were MD80 Z3-ARA, 737s 9H-FSJ, LZ-BON, I-BPAC & LZ-GPA, A330S 9H-RTU (Luke Air scheme), 9H-CFS (white with Flight Service titles) & ex Alitalia machines EI-EJH & EJI. SX-DBN is (sadly for me) a candidate for my 320 although with no engines, rudder or horizontal stabilisers it looks more destined for coke cans than for future use. Time will tell, but thanks again.

HI Dave
Been looking in to the Guardia de Finanza ATR’s and have come up with two possible candidates for you. MM62166 does not appear on any of the flight trackers since about the end of 2020. MM62230 shows as last flying on the 30th November 2021 and looked to be heading towards Naples. There is also a photograph of the aircraft at Naples on the same date on the Jet Photos website so that one may be the more likely of the two. No ideas on the Airbus 320 at all.
