Made a pre-arranged visit to Chirk yesterday Saturday for the first time since 2004- basically to see some of the based stuff since my last visit- the Rapides and Nordcrins are still there along with quite a bit of other stored aircraft and new residents which have arrived and which were in a couple of new hangars which had been erected.

The Rapides are in the Museum and have not changed since my last visit and the Nordcrin's are in the scrap hangar together with lots of bits and pieces of other aircraft. The Rapide frame G-AKRN was only pointed out to me by the airfield owner and was sitting at the back of the scrap hangar- would not have even gave it any attention had it not been pointed out to me. He said that there were other bits in the scrap hangar and he was hoping to move it into the Museum with the others. I did however see G-AKRN at Southend in the late sixties.
Never the less a nice visit- with 12 hitting the books- if you did decide to visit- don't go uninvited he is onside and will give permission to visit provided given plenty of notice.
Happy Days
Bob
