Finally got round to logging the trip. Not a spotting trip per se but 2 overnight stops either end in the Hyatt at MCO did up the numbers a bit.
We left early on the 6th on VRAY with nothing being noted due torrential rain at LHR, arrival at MCO was around 13.30 local time where we flew through immigration within 15 mins of the aircraft doors opening and bags were waiting on the belt so it was straight to the Hyatt to check in for the night. We had booked a runway view room which was as described a full view of the runway and a balcony so that was me happy till it got dark at about 6pm at which time we retired to the on site restaurant Mcoys for dinner
The airport seemed to be active most of the night but I was to tired to stay awake deciding instead to get up early the next morning.
Sunrise was around 7ish and as you can see the sun comes up directly in front of you. Traffic gets a bit manic between 8 and 10. A quick trip to McDonald's in the term for breakfast and a detour on the way down. The hotel reception is on the 4th floor as is the aforementioned Mcoys but if you walk past reception and turn right at the restaurant it takes you into the multi storey car park, lifts are on the far side and I went upto level 10 (level 11 being the helipad) from here cargo and the biz area could be seen although heat haze could be an issue.
Other spotting locations in the hotel which should only be accessed if your a resident (see info at bottom re this) were the pool on the 6th floor which had great views sort of similar to the old LHR Queens building
The pool is open from 7am till 11pm evey day and has WiFi, there is also pool service but is a tad expensive!! You can also see part of cargo and part of the other runway from here.
And also these areas on every level above the 4th floor reception.
To access the floors above reception you need to use your room card to activate the lifts..... However everytime we got in the lift other people were in there and just asked what floor we wanted, I'm guessing if you timed your entry into the lift you could access the upper floors and pool area 😉
So on with the logging, will just log airline and type so you get an overall picture of what's to be seen

If I went again I'd book a room with a partial runway view as this offers views on both runways plus biz/cargo, I'd imagine it would be cheaper as well. Lol
