Earlier I saw a post that Carolyn Grace had died as a result of a car crash in Australia . She was the wife of Nick who built and operated the two seater Spitfire . Unfortunately he too died as the result of a car crash whilst returning from a meeting at Yeovilton , I think . I seem to recall that the meeting was about operating vintage aircraft at shows . I spent some time chatting with Nick when the Spitfire was being skinned and was a shell , at St. Meryn . We talked about the running cost as he was unsure about fitting a second seat . WE came to a conclusion that people would pay to fly in a Spitfire , so it was ! Carolyn learnt to fly the Spitfire following Nicks untimely death and I think she had a lot to do with the restoration set up at Sywell . I do not have any contact details but if someone does , would they please pass on my condolences to the family ? ( I may of miss spelt a few names and places - sorry ) . Chrisj

I met Carolyn Grace at Duxford in 2004 at an event which included lunch with her - and 250 others - and a chance, by ballot, of a flight in her Spitfire. I didn't win the ballot, sadly, but found her very pleasant and happy to answer aviation enthusiasts' questions. Her death in a car accident is very sad.
