Over the past few days I have been using the very good Wolverhampton Group's UK military serials site and it is very good . One thing I noticed was that a number of redundant airframes are listed as going to Sproughton . Now I did not know where this was but thought it could be 'Up North' some place . So I looked it up by way of the LAAS Ports of Call on line . There are two Sproughtons but the required one is Sproughton- Abbey Oaks . It seems to be a large country house near to Ipswich . There is no obvious way in or viewing place . The aircraft are all over the place and more often than not , are in several pieces . The grounds are very large . As I said , there is no obvious entry so I ask , has anyone ever visited and gained entry please ? Chrisj

Sproughton is the home of Everett Aero- a military aircraft salvage and maintenance company. They specialise in ex-British military aircraft. Whilst I have never tried, I don’t believe there is any way of seeing there and I don’t believe that they are spotter-friendly. However, here is a link to their website. You could try to contact them and offer to make a charitable donation in exchange for a visit…. Worst case is they say no…. www.everettaero.com/

Chris, Looking at the Demobbed site- it would appear that someone has paid a visit to the location in April and there is a list similar to Grahams but minus the civil stuff. Also if you go into the ports of call site and zoom in you can see the wrought iron gate for the property with a sign for Abbey Oaks to the left and a Telephone number underneath same. From the list on Demobbed I need 10 and similar to Grahams minus the civil stuff which I have all of what is listed. Happy Days Bob

Yes the photos and log on eurodemobbed suggest that a visit was paid, although I’ve always been led to believe that they’re not overly friendly and nothing can be seen from outside.
However, as I suggested, Chris could always try contacting them - they can only say no. Contact details are on the link I provided.
I no longer need anything there- I would need XP888 Scout off Graham’s list but that moved to the Doncaster area about 3 years ago.
