hi,
the super early bird tickets sale ends on 3rd Jan. friday is £34, saturday £64, didn't notice sundays, and its a free bus service from Swindon/Cheltenham.... and the theme is-
This year, RIAT coincided with the 50th anniversary of the first manned moon landing. In keeping with this year's theme, 'Air & Space: Inspiring The Next Generation Air Force' British astronaut Major Tim Peake made an appearance at the airshow on the Friday.
so i'm going for friday as i usually do, what that theme is going to draw aircraft wise, is in the lap of the Gods...
regards, oh and a happy safe new year, with blue skies, and loads of trailers...

I’m a little confused this. Wasn’t the first manned lunar landing in 1969, so the 50th anniversary would have been 2019?
I believe that Tim Peake appeared at RIAT in 2019 and 2022.
I didn’t think that the theme for 2023 had been announced yet?

I would probably also have opted for the Friday but it is Bastille Day and thus coincides with the mass flypast over Paris and that must take precedence.

Fridays have been good. You can wander most of the length and use the free shuttle buses at the green end for the remainder. (You need to use these to identify the larger aircraft and the later arrivals.)

hi,
as rugbyref says its all open except for the green end, where the late arrivals park up, but the free bus takes you past them to the green entrance,and this year gone the lady driver slowed down as we passed the larger exhibits... There's not as many people as sat/sun, but school parties go fridays, but to be honest they've never been a problem for taking photo's. one year 3-4yrs ago the display area with some display a/c, at the red end was open, but about 1030am it was closed off, it was the only year i'd got there before 1030 on the bue from Swindon, so i don't know if they still open it up...Aircraft are still arriving so thats an extra.Anything else you need, just ask...

hi ZZ,
so i need to apologise to the group for the "duff gen", all i can say is the advert was for the super early bird ticket prices for the friday, the following paragraph in the advert i copied followed on from this years prices, so i must have misunderstood it.
i must add though this weeks theme announcement has got to be better than 'Air & Space: Inspiring The Next Generation Air Force' which if it was 2022's theme i honestly could not see it... But a tip for 2024, the F.16's 50th.(50 all in a line, i remember the 25th line up of the C.130 and KC.135 they were treks...

No need for apologies- it really doesn’t matter!
I think the Space theme was a few years ago as it was Training last year.
However, 2023 has now been announced-
At RIAT23, we will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of air-to-air refuelling with our SKYTANKER23 theme. In addition to the tankers, we will have on display the various aircraft types showcasing the latest in sustainable aviation and technology.
