March 1st, meteorologically the first day of Spring. February was dry and cold but it seems it will continue like this until at least the third week of the new month. No doubt the weather is in cahoots with the energy companies who continue to make vast profits whilst half the country can't even afford to put their heating on. Yet this lame government refuses to impose a windfall tax on their good fortune, most likely as some of the Westminster rich kids are on the boards or paid vast amounts of money for their lobbying skills.

Hi All, Reluctantly this will be my last post on this forum, well not reluctantly, there has been quite a few things which have p****d me off since I came back. 1. The lack of acknowledgement when someone asks for information and when you give them the same they don’t even say thanks. (RugbyRef when he was going up to Newcastle for the first time and wanted details regarding airfields en-route which he could visit). It only take a post to say “Thanks for that”. The same person was quick on my case when I made comment regarding the Tory party). 2. Asked ZZ re information regarding the Basler tours at Oshkosh- again ignored. Surprisingly Dave Allum never replied when I asked how he was getting to Oshkosh- this was on the same thread. 3. Also it upset me when Telford got banned – although I was the recipient of a few of his comments- he was in my opinion a very nice bloke, and his wife Sue was lovely. Les say’s it as it is, although in relation to some of my comments, he did not really look into my scouse humour. But I look forward to meeting up with him again at some of the bigger events this year. 4. No one has made any comments re Graham GTF4J2M who has not been heard from since he returned from Oshkosh- his last post being after Telford was banned. 5. There are others who have not been heard from, who were prolific posters prior to the pandemic, the majority being up in the North- hopefully they are all ok. As I hope GTF4J2M is. Also there are a lot of things going on with my family- so another reason for leaving this forum. Enjoy the Hobby it has been a blast. Happy days Bob

Agreed Trevor,it's always a shame when someone leaves but such is life.
To be honest I don't recall seeing a request about how I'm getting to Oshkosh,if I had I would have replied.

Back home after my Dubai/Australia sojourn. I'm working through the logs made whilst there to post later.
So, first day with at home sightings for March, today looks likely to be a blank though.

I don’t want to say too much regarding Bob as I think there are issues there. He has a history of deleting his account and all his posts before - this was his second spell on the group.
But leaving the group is one thing- leaving with a childish name and shame post is another. I don’t recall seeing any request from him that I didn’t answer. We had several private message threads between us (for example a request from him regarding the Midlands Air Festival), so I don’t know why he didn’t message me on there which would guarantee I would see it and reply. As I did on several other topics…
Anyway- it is a shame that he felt the need to leave. He obviously took things very personally that shouldn’t have been taken that way. I hope that he’s ok and finds a forum that lives up to his expectations.

Morning fellas,
That is both a pity and a shame that Bob decided to leave AFA again. There are times when I’ve missed topics, questions and some really good news/info items that I’d have preferred to see, rather than missing them. I put my inability to keep on top of such items as purely the pressures of life nowadays and my carelessness - If I’ve ever failed to answer anybody I’d offer my sincere apologies, right now.
I’d never ignore direct questions or requests which, I feel confident in saying, would be the same for all of our active members. The fact that the ‘recent posts’ only triggers the past 20 (or thereabouts) posts made does mean you can miss a message, or two, very quickly… It’s easily done.
Its a pity about Bob. I’m not going to respond to any of the points he made but I’d simply say it’s easy to miss things, we’ve probably all had experience in that respect, but, if I’ve had a particular point, with a particular forum member, I’ve always used the ‘direct message’ facility to solicit a response and I have to say, it’s never failed.
So Bob, if you read this as a guest, thanks for all your previous input and indeed contributions to AFA. Best of luck, mate.
Bill

As has been said, it's always a shame when a member leaves. I don't get on as much as I used to mainly due to shift work and family commitments. Like others have said If I've missed a question I do apologise.

Well, I'm sorry to say this but good bloody riddance. We extended the hand of friendship when he asked to come back to the forum a year or so ago after his previous hissy fit as he told me that he had been in a bad place and of course, we all can empathise with that. He was told in no uncertain terms NOT to delete all of his posts should he decide to chuck his toys out of the pram again but it obviously fell on deaf ears although he agreed to it.
To name certain members as being the recipient of his vitriol is childish and completely uncalled for but if that's how he wants to play it, then there's no place for him on this forum anyway.
I recall a few months ago that his wife was rather poorly. He updated us regularly and many of us offered our support and best wishes to them both on a regular basis. If that's not a friendly forum then I don't know what is.
As for his comments about "prolific contributors never being asked why they don't contribute" is total b***ocks; I routinely check to see if any regular members haven't posted for a while and send them an email to their personal address asking if all is OK, and if not, what we can do to help.
Telford was banned from the forum after several polite messages about his etiquette and nature of his posts which he saw to ignore and as such, was banned permanently.
The entire set up of this group is based around friendship, politeness and mutual respect and has been since day one well over eight years ago. I try to read every post but sometimes, it just isn't possible and it's pathetic to get in a lather because someone "didn't acknowledge my post".
As I recall, we heard this all before when he decided to leave the forum a couple of years ago so there's obviously a recurring theme to all of this behaviour.
One thing for sure is that should a change of heart occur from him, the door to the forum will be permanently closed. He can of course view as a guest and I'm sure he will as I know he did after he left last time. I can't prevent that while we all enjoy an open forum where guests can post without registering but should any more nastiness occur, his IP address will be banned and that will be that.

A busy day yesterday, shopping, cleaning, laundry, walking the pooches, etc but did manage two frames and a scrape. With the Frogs enduring some form of ATC action, three Norwegian Air Swedens went over in the space of half an hour or so but I only needed one of them. The B767 came out from SNN.
