Hi all
Over the eight years of AFA, we have accumulated dozens of members who signed up, but have never been back to the forum since that day. For example, one member signed up during the first week of AFA, on 25th January 2015, but since then has never posted and has never revisited the forum (the stats show us that), so I think it's safe to assume that he is unlikely to come back, but if they did, then they can simply sign up again.
We have started removing these members, anyone who has ever posted, even if it's just one post eight years ago will be left as a member but I don't see much point having 750 members if at least a quarter of those have never posted since the day they joined and have never revisited AFA since that day.
So, it's just a bit of a purge of deadwood and as said, it doesn't affect anyone else.
Thanks to all
Bill, Jeff, Mark & Graham

Quite an eye opener, the admin pages list all of the members at 50 per page, I've just deleted two pages where 28 and 32 of those 50 signed up, but then never returned to the forum. I wonder why? If I join a group or forum it's because I want to participate, or at least, look in now and again. But these 60 never did. They joined, then never came back. How odd.

Just a thought Graham; I mentioned AFA on a Sydney spotters forum. It is possible someone down under signed up then realised we are Northern Hemisphere oriented?

Thanks Phil, I think there were a couple of Aussies on the list but the vast majority were UK based. I've now removed 200 who signed up and then never returned to the group. There were a few where it was obvious that the member had forgotten their sign in details, so had created a new account then still never came back to the forum....0)

How odd. hi graham, put it down to Brexit, Covid, cost of living, thats the usual reason given for a lot of things... but as once was said " separate the wheat from the chaff." and your left with the good stuff. regards, dave...

Hi Dave
The vast majority of the "no showers" signed on during the very early days of the group, in Jan/Feb/Mar 2015 and then never ever returned. The "welcome to the group" thread from the early days is full of "hope to contribute as much as I can" posts from loads of different people who signed up then never returned. The stats inside the admin section of the group tell us exactly when members signed up, how many posts they made, and the last time they visited the group. As you can see, Bill and I between us have halved the group membership total but it's pointless having a huge number of members who've never come back after signing on.
