Nine years ago, my first ever visit to this friendly airfield that reputedly is the highest in the UK? I had called a couple of days previously and had been given permission to drive around the perimeter "road" to the hangars. The road was full of potholes, some of them potential suspension wreckers so took it steady. I remember it as being a very windy day but although some of the hangars were shut up, there was plenty parked outside and as you can see, I made close to fifty. I've been back several times since, once with Bill a few years ago and the place was as friendly as ever. Never called them since, have just turned up and asked in the flying club office. Good cafe here too.

I think, but not 100% certain, that it is the highest licensed airfield in the UK. However, there are numerous strips and gliding fields that have a higher elevation.

As you say though, always a friendly and interesting visit. Just wish they’d sort out the perimeter road! I haven’t been for a few years- probably about the time of this report- time to take a trip back!

Thanks Phil, Nympsfield and Aston Down are up high in the Cotswolds but no idea how high.
