With thanks to Bill Samuels for the lift, he and I attended departures day at RIAT. A few of the numerous shots from that day - Cessna’s first aluminium type. Although officially registered as a Cessna LC126C, this Italian based aircraft seemingly has no valid claim to that designation. The 126C model was produced for the US Army (the A model for the Air Force, the B model for the National Guard). N1064D was however built in 1951 as a civilian Cessna 195 and has seemingly never seen military service. It’s akin to calling a Lear Jet which had never seen military service a C21. Nice to see though. Its radial engine burns almost 2 ltrs of oil per flying hour.
