As today marks 'Battle of Britain day' and I recently came across this Utube short on the making of the film I thought I'd share. Quite a good watch if you can find the time.

hi Jeff, thanks i will watch it later after my chores are done, what a great day in ours, and even the worlds history. Also remembering B of B days in my early spotting days, most if not all stations open to the public, and free i may add... my local station was Tern Hill, visited there a few times, then more adventurous Biggin, Halton, Leuchars, Finningley, Waddington, Abingdon, in the late 50's what a selection of aircraft on show. Now, not so many, and is there a station open nowadays?
regards, dave...

Hi Dave, only just seen your reply here. I remember as a youngster travelling all over the place with my Dad who, whilst not a spotter, was very much into aviation. He was a machmeter calibrator for a company in Basingstoke who were called Kelvins back in those far off days early-mid 60s. We did all the shows you mention including Leuchars which was made possible because his uncle lived not far from the base. He worked on instruments for Sea Vixens and Hunters and they were always his two favourite aircraft.
We went to a show at Waddington in 1965, I was nine, I don't know whether that was a B of B show or not, but what I do remember were the rows of B.1 Vulcans all lined up, all painted white if I recall. A sight I'll never forget.

hi, those were the days sure enough, me and my mate decided to finish off our Vulcans, so we went on train to Lincoln then on push bikes up the hill to Waddington, then back into the valley and up the other side to Scampton. That almost finished them, (and us), it took a trip to Finningly for a B of B show to leave just one, which i think is over in the states, and the 1981 4 Vulcan scramble, that cleared the wax out of my ears... regards, dave...
