I'm looking for a year please, reggies if possible. So there I was picking my daughter up from nursery in Mychett (she's 29 now) directly under approach to 24, it was, I believe arrivals week. All of a sudden the sound of fast jets could be heard and soon after 4 or 5 Harriers in close formation appeared, all I can remember is 1 was in the pre Falklands blue and white scheme. Can't remember if they run and broke and landed or just paid a visit with a Fly through. Any help greatly appreciated

I don't really do military, but it sounds like a show from the late 1980's - early 1990s. Try this site, you can browse through the airshow years. I have found it useful in the past: farnboroughspotter.weebly.com/

Jeff - My best guess would be the 1980 show. Blue & white Sea Harriers flew a formation. They arrived and did a practice on 28 August (XZ456 'VL103', XZ458 'N251', XZ459 'N252' & XZ460 'N253') and (I think) returned to Yeovilton. 458, 459 & 460 returned on 2 September but 456 had been replaced by XZ454 'N250'. (XZ457 was in the static). I was also there on 3 September and only managed to get 3 in my photo for some reason (? was one a spare or did my then fixed lens only catch 3 of them?). The actual show was 31 August to 7 September so if yours were during arrivals week then the first 4 on 28/8 (a Thursday) should be them. ac 167 by dave tompkins, on Flickr

Jeff - Just realised that if she is 29 now she wasn't around in 1980 let alone at nursery, but if pre Falklands scheme then she wasn't around then either. If really 29 now she was born circa 1994 so my guess at the 1980 show does not work sadly!

Or were you, in 1980, in the habit of picking up random children from nurseries? Must admit I don't remember the court case!

A Sea Harrier was painted up in the pre Falklands scheme and appeared at a number of Airshows in 2004. This was ZH809 but I cannot trace it appearing at Farnborough that year. That would have put your daughter at about 10 so a bit too old for nursery !
