They did put one of their A319s into the BEA 'Red Square' scheme a few years ago, though I still wonder why they didn't do the later 'quarter flag' on another of their aircraft; and a BOAC scheme on a B747. So, yes, how about a re-appearance of the Dan Air scheme. What others would also re-appear, if such a thing happened? And is that A319 still in that vintage BEA sheme?

Allegheny had a lovely scheme, I remember it distinctly from the Washington trip in 1972. BAC 1-11s. DC-9s and Convair 580s, they were the days.

Not seen the red square for a while, think it maybe in storage in Madrid. Others they could do BCal North East Cambrian British Midland to name a few. I remember before they did the recent retros BAs argument about doing retro was that it confused customers at the gate. Simple solution to that would be to have the retro painted on the non boarding side only. it was good enough for Concorde 😂

I think that when they did the BEA square c/s they made some excuse not to paint the wings red which was a shame . Was the square not black on the fin ? Grey cells are not up to much now days ! Others could be BKS yellow c/s and their earlier one . I flew with them a few times and think they do not value the customer - just my thoughts . Chrisj

I thought that I'd see if I could find somewhere to check what the BEA schemes looked like. My own best memory is of the 'quarter flag' era, the last one used before nationalisation and they started to be repainted into the first of the BA schemes. This looks like a good one: www.yesterdaysairlines.com/bea-liveries-1946-1974.html
