06/01/24 Icicle Refrozen, Donnington Grove
As suspected, the flooding seen across the country meant that no flying occurred, however the decent weather allowed for some tethering. 9 balloons were seen before I left at about midday.

Made SNKE and and BSAK, amazing to think I made BFOZ on Jan 6th 1979 at Marsh Benham, so thats 44 years ago! Although I was only 8 at the time and it was the first balloon meet my dad took me to. Rob

Similarly I first saw G-BFOZ on 01/01/81 at Marsh Benham. It was my first spotting balloon meet at the age of 6 !

How very odd two of those, BIRE and NWPB, I recall from my youth at St.Helens show in 1981/82. So to be together now is really weird to me. I used to cycle the 3 or so miles from home. Each year we had a couple of balloons and stuff like Marlboro Pitts or the Unipart RF-4s or Red Devils in their BN-2. Happy Days. As with many things the show is no more :-(
