hi, a report out that The mystery around what happened to Amelia Earhart – the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean – may be finally solved. Divers believe they have finally discovered her plane lying on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean near where she vanished in 1937. Now – after scanning more than 5,200 miles of seabed near Earhart’s last known position – underwater surveyors Deep Sea Vision believe they may have located her Lockheed 10-E Electra.
The 16-person crew has spent months been searching the Pacific Ocean with a Kongsberg Discovery HUGIN 6000, the most advanced unmanned underwater drone available. And at the weekend they made the announcement that they had found a plane-shaped object lying on the ocean floor close to Howland Island, between Fiji and the Hawaiian islands. Now i appreciate the floor of the Pacific must be covered in wrecks, but this company as far as i know have not been collecting donations for the last so-many years for expeditions, carried out mainly in summers, so good luck if their find is Amelia and Fred...
so now if it is, will TIGAR go after "the White Bird" i think they have mention that...
regards, dave...
