hi, i was luckly enough to visit the above at Newquay airport in 2022, before the council closed it down! next to its location was i think a company that made FSM's viewable was Spitfire BR954 which i was told was BAPC220, also there was a P.51D DUCHESS ARLENE, and a V.1 displayed, does anyone know if the P.51 and V1 have BAPC numbers... regards, dave...

hi, i've just found Grahams post of 29/12/21, of the BAPC list which helps alot, but unless i've missed it can't find the P.51D i'm looking for... plus the Spitfire BR954 i'm a bit iffy about, BAPC220 seems a bit early and on milky01.com its listed at Shirlywhich, Staffs, but it was on a Queen Mary at Newquay... regards, dave...

Hi Dave
Your P-51D Duchess Arlene is BAPC.458, reported as being worked on at Replica Aircraft Fabrications at Newquay airport in April 2022
The best I can offer for the V-1 is BAPC.344 replica which was listed as being at the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre
The Spitfire is a bit more contentious, PlaneBase has no record of BAPC.220 ever being at Newquay although that could of course be incorrect. It does list BAPC.220 as having been at Biggin Hill for a while, sat outside the RAF Memorial Chapel by all accounts. However, it does list BAPC.217 K9926 Coded JH-C as being in a derelict condition at Newquay in 2016 although this later found a new home at an Aero Park in Turkey although no dates are given.

hi, thanks for looking, i've seen a photo of the V1 and its marked as BAPC344, i will take BAPC458 for the P.51D as my visit was July 2022, now the Spitfire was on a trailer with the wings against the fuselage, i could see J* A codes, and it had invasion marks, AHUK from the SWAG site, has it down to the Cornish Aviation Heritage Centre also a picture, ex 2/3 locations the last being Shirleywich, Staffs, ex N3194/GR-Z... So i'm sorted with them now, thanks again for your help.
regards, dave...

Dave , can you get onto the rw26 site/forum ? This is for enthusiasts in the SW but mainly Exeter - PLY and Newquay . One of the chaps produces a very in depth listing of based aircraft in the SW a couple of times each year . I will try a little later to see what I can find as I do not have the time just now . Dave, the P-51D is 100% your bird, it's listed on Planebase with "Duchess Arlene" as its name.

Dave , so far no reply from the rw26 chap so I have done a little digging mainly from a rw26 SW based list of a couple of years ago so expected things much the same year on year . Anyway ,
BAPC344 Fieseler Fi103 flying bomb replica BAPC494 Spitfire cockpit reproduction BAPC068 / P2725 (TM-B) Hurrucane FSM BAPC217 / K9926 (JH-C) Spitfire replica 44-**648 Duchess Arlene P51 Not sure what the difference is between a FSM , replica or a reproduction No mention of the P51 in W & R 28th Edition .
Just about all as earlier reported . Chrisj

Dave , You Know Who's LAW ! Not long after posting my last , I had an email from the rw26 chap who produces the SW based list . P51 is/was BAPC458 and the Spitfire BAPC222 / BR954 JP-A . I know it is old info but that completes things . Chrisj

I think it is more than just good for people to help each other . You never know when you may need help no matter how small . I did see a post a few days back that the ex 32(TQS) DH125 was seen road running but no destination known . ( Sorry but I forgot the serial as I type this ) Chrisj

I think so . If I manage to find the post which may be on rw26 , I will let you know . When I posted about it on the move , I could not recall the serial which of course I should know as I worked on it for some five years or so . Grey cells giving out ? Chrisj

Thanks Mark. I was reading on the "Cornwall Live" news website this morning that the company that was supposedly moving into the museum's hangar has done nothing whatsoever. According to the report, the company for whom Cornwall CC very unceremoniously kicked the museum out for has not even been seen on site since the museum closed. Understandaly, the guys who ran the museum are furious as they were given such a short amount of time to clear out, with exhibits being sold off or scrapped, as this new company were to occupy the site immediately. tinyurl.com/2buk6435

When I visited and spoke to some of the Museum 'Staff' they were understandably upset ( to put it mildly ) . The state of things is just typical of Council controlled items . As museum persons said , 'They bring a lot of paying customers into the area' ! How short sighted of the authorities ? Pity the museum could not of moved to Chivenor where there is a large airfield very under used ! Chrisj
