Hi Keith
Can I please ask where your photos were taken from? I'm guessing it's from the top of the road from the A433 and just before you turn right into the airfield past the old Guardroom?
Many thanks Keith

Many thanks Keith Just in case your namesake doesn't pick up your request before you might be planning a visit and as his photos effectively match the angles of my own, I took mine from, and close to, a small layby on the A433 on the left about 100 yards before turning left on the road leading down to the airfield when coming from Cirencester.

Just to further stir the pot….another one might well have arrived today…the pyrotechnics trailer combo was outside ASI when we drove in to AV8!

Disregard. I am told not another, just spares collection. Phew!

Looking at the photos uploaded earlier in this thread…the line of 7 Grobs sort of in front of TV are….
SH, TB, SJ, UR, SC, TE, UF. The one pointing the opposite way behind them is UG.

I read on 'severnside-aviation' a post from Graham Wickens dated a few days ago , that Vigilants TS and UV are in hangar J2 . Could someone who knows which hangars are which , please tell where J2 is please ? Also having not visited for some time , is Kemble still closed on Sundays and Mondays ? Thank you . Chrisj

Affirm, Kemble is closed to the general public on Sundays and Mondays. Based aircraft can fly but the gates are usually shut to prevent us ordinary bods getting in.
J2….i didnt know it was called that…..is one of the small metal hangars alongside the peritrack into Kemble. I think there are three hangars…one is Starspeed Helicopters; the next one is where the two Grobs presently are - also GELUN and GMGBG and the third one is Retro Track and Air. Then you round the bend and get to ASI H1.

Negative. Shows how you take things for granted, visiting a place almost daily! There are actually 4 metal hangars on what must be J site! One is double ended so they seem to be numbered J5 (nearest ASI…Retros)…to I imagine..J1 which is Starspeed. On this basis, J2 is where I said, opening towards ASI.
Graham…C2 is indeed behind the Britannia but that is Zeroavia (incidentally, where we used to ‘live’ in the Devonair days! The Do238, C208 and GMKAS live in there, possibly with GBAIH.

Many thanks 'whitebear & graham' . I was thinking along the lines that one of the ASI hangars might be the one in question as a further read of the severnside post said that the Vigilant was owned by a worker from ASI for his kids play thing so logically it could of been tucked away in an ASI hangar . Also I had forgotten about those newer small hangars as one drives in past the original MU large hanger . Chrisj

Correct. Bradley will be relocating ‘his’ Grob to his home idc.

Taking the above list, the following were "identified" yesterday 26/03. As you can see most were not confirmed at all.
ZH116/TB - TB readable from A433 ZH126/TM - code ending in M visible from A433 ZH148/TV ZH205/UL - ZH205 / UL read off from A429 layby. This aircraft is easily visible and may be the next one to move as broken cover away from the others. ZH268/SA - top of code ending in "A" visible from A433 ZZ192/SQ ZH118/TD ZH127/TN ZH184/TW ZH211/UR ZH270/SC ZZ193/SR ZH119/TE - code ending in E or F visible from A433. This was not UF which was seen from a different angle ZH193/UF - UF read from A429, visible just behind the Jota 146 fuselage ZJ960/SH - SH readable from A433 ZH125/TL ZH146/TT ZH194/UG - UG visible from A433 ZJ961/SJ
Obviously the challenge now is how much of each did I actually see!!!

Its clear from comparing aerial photos taken yesterday and last week that there has been considerable Grob movement within the scrap area. It appears that as they are stripped of useable parts they are moved and heaped closely together further toward the port wing of the 747. Earlier shots show them mostly standing on their undercarriages (albeit TN was lying on its side and hence almost certainly blocked from external view by the surrounding upright Grobs) but the aerial shots from yesterday show those that have been processed (and that is now the majority of them) have had their undercarriages removed. Shots yesterday show that TL is now sitting just outside the scrap area and thus probably shortly to leave for a new home somewhere. Earlier shots show that it had been sitting on its own, away from the main group, tight against the fence between a shipping container and the Titan 757 & the 146 on the other side and thus appeared to have been also effectively blocked from any external viewpoint. Looks like the rest wont be there for much longer once the final few have been stripped.
