First Trip to the States May 1972 Part 3 (Thu 1st June)

Day 3 and we decided to go somewhere different for a change so we headed off to the bus station and caught the Greyhound bus over to Baltimore-Friendship,again in 1972 it wasn't that busy airliner wise (before Southwest came into existence),on the plus side however no fences at all and after seeking out the airport manager we were allowed to wander around the GA area's.

Hi Dave,

Excellent report mate. Those were very different days but so rewarding in so many ways.

As soon as I get a few minutes I'm going to print off my first trip to the States, again in the 70's, when I took a trip with TWA to California - brilliant trip and as a travel agent (at the time) TWA really looked after us... In those days they used to let you extend the trip and travel to somewhere else on the way home - I chose New York for a couple of days which I spent at JFK....

I'm still proud of seeing the Red Arrows on their first US display at Transpo, to see the Americans marvelling at their great manoeuvres, as I say, proud. I had a crappy old camera and the few pics I took came out rubbish and eventually got thrown away. Talking of Miami, I had a holiday there in 1980 with my now wife's family and Rod came too. We went off on one day for a wander round the airport and we're allowed out on to the Rich International apron,they had props then. I have some pics of C46's, DC7, Costellation etc but all my stuff is in storage prior to moving. When we get settled I'll try and find the pix and scan them or something if anyone is interested.

Love to see those Keith, I still have the negatives of about 70 photos I took on our 1972 trip, the prints were lost years ago, I just need to find a way to print them again as the local shop wanted £150!!
