Morning all. I've had a couple of members ask how they go about posting links to other websites and how to post photographs.
Links
1. On the web page you wish to post a link to, highlight the website's address in the top browser bar with your mouse. The address should turn blue.
2. Right click your mouse and select "copy"
3. Come back to the forum here to your post and right click your mouse again
4.Select "paste" and the link will appear on the post www.laasdata.com/ports-of-call/ports-of-call.php?c=871 Our website will automatically detect it as a hyperlink and will highlight the link
5. Anyone clicking on the link now will be redirected to that website
Photographs
Posting photographs ( as opposed to a link to a photograph) is a bit more tricky but after a few goes, it will become second nature. I use Flickr, an online photo storage facility so can only provide directions for that particular site. Maybe other members who may use Photobucket, Picassa and so on, could provide details for those sites?
I have almost 11,000 shots saved to Flickr, if I had to scroll through my Photostream to find what I wanted, it would take all day to find the specific phot so it's best to create "collections" as I have, where I post each set of aviation shots taken on various visits to airfields. I'm assuming that those of us who use Flickr are familiar with setting up "collections"? If not, then please shout.
1. Go to the "collection" where you shot or shots are stored.Click to open the specific set within that collection, in this case, "Lasham 010115".
2. Find the shot you wish to post and click on it to enlarge it on your screen
3. On that screen, in the bottom right corner, you will see four icons, from left to right, a frame with a mountain, a square with a pen, a right pointing thick arrow and a thin arrow pointing down. Click on the right pointing thick arrow, that takes you to the "share" option, i.e. posting the shot on new webpage
4.Firstly, where it says "code", ensure that "BB Code" is highlighted. This is the code that the Aviationforall website accepts. Beneath that there's an elongated rectangle with a downward pointing arrow on the right. Click on that arrow and it gives you a choice of sizes for the photo you wish to post to the forum here. I usually opt for the 1024 x 480 option which will display the photo perfectly well, so click on that ( or whatever size you want) and that size will now show in the box
5. Beneath that box is a further box with a code in it: highlight that code with your cursor ( it will turn blue), right click the mouse and select "copy"
6. Open the tab to the forum here, go to your post, right click your mouse and select "paste" - a long line or lines of code will appear on the page. Please note that the photo does not show up at this stage. Finish your post and then hit the button to post your comments as you ordinarily would. The photo will now appear within the comments box

Sounds complicated but after a few goes, you will be able to perform the operation in a few seconds.
