Hi Bob This is the forward fuselage of KB976, the ex Strathallan Aircraft Collection Lancaster that was badly damaged at Woodford when the roof collapsed while it was being restored to flight. The rear section of the fuselage is displayed at Aeroventure in Doncaster. Kermit Weeks has the rest of her, wings, tail plane and rudders, plus small parts of the fuselage. Some photos from my visit in 2010 can be viewed at www.airport-data.com/photographers/Chris+Hall:2873/Brooklands-EGLB:29661:1.htmlBrooklands also has an excellent motor museum

The full history of KB976 can be found on this site and well worth spending the time reading through the various sections which have lots of photos. www.timefadesaway.co.uk/strathallan/kb976/kb_976_intro.htmlIt's history became confusing after the Woodford roof collapse and the death of Charles Church (who owned it at the time) It spent several years being moved around various locations around the Uk in sections, including Sandtoft, North Weald, Bedford, Cranfield and Biggin Hill before Kermit Weeks bought sections of it. Section 10 on the website covers its links with the Brookland museum. Intrestingly, only the first 7 sections of the nose are from the original aircraft (from just infront of the cockpit forward) the rest of the fuselage has been rebuilt using original parts scourced from Canada. It also shows it was relocated to RAF Scampton in August 2014 and is now on display there

Looking at your log Bob, numbers 5, 6, 7 & 8 make me think of spending a Saturday afternoon atop the Queen's Building in around 1970, great memories too!

Superb video Jeff, the pilots must have stood her on her nose to stop in such a short length of tarmac.

I have great memories of spending time on the Queen's Building in the 1970s & early 1980s and also at Gatwick. There is a petition asking for a viewing area to be restored to LHR. It looks like it is still open to sign: www.change.org/p/heathrow-airport-build-a-public-viewing-gallery
