as expected the weather played a big part but undaunted we went on ahead and hoped for a bit of blue sky ha ha! we started off fairly early with dismal weather but as we got near leeming the sky was amass with balloons .apparently there was a meet at BEDALE and caused a major diversion for us to go chasing them( haven,t done this for a while) of the ones we saw flying we managed to get 11 . the first stop after this bit of excitement was MILFIELD a very friendly glider site which was a first visit for me .obviously the weather not being very clever we were given access to the hangar only G-BJCI PIPER PA18 SUPER CUB G-CJZB DG500 ELAN G-CJHR CENTRAIR ALLIENCE G-CIBF EUROFOX 912 G-FEVS PZL PUCHACZ G-DJAD ASK21 G-ATFR PIPER PA25 PAWNEE G-DEAF GROB G102

now onto ESHOTT for the GREAT NORTH FLY-IN ,not so great this year as there seemed to be very little in the way of visitors in fact 2 as long as we were there.there are quite a few residents here so it more than made up for the lack of visitors .there was also no restrictions as to hangar entry G-BRLO PIPER PA38 TOMAHAWK G-BRLR CESSNA 150G G-AYAW PIPER PA 28 CHEROKEE G-BZAR DENNEY KITFOX G-RRRZ RV8 G-OTYE EV97 EUROSTAR G-CHTX VOLTAIR 86 electric powered micolight G-FAME STARSTREAK SHADOW G-RTMS RANS S6 COYOTE G-GIAS IKARUS C42 G-BZTD THRUSTER T600T G-CTED RV7 G-SJES EV97 EUROSTAR G-MRSS IKARUS C42 G-TSKS EV97 EUROSTAR G-CEVS EV97 EUROSTAR G-CEII MEDWAY EXECUTIVE G-TEDI BEST OFF SKYRANGER G-CEAT ZENAIR ZODIAC G-CDPE BEST OFF SKYRANGER G-POLL BEST OFF SKYRANGER G-MYDK RANS S6 COYOTE G-BRWP CFM STREAK SHADOW G-MWKX MICROFLIGHT SPECTRUM G-CJUD DENNEY KITFOX G-CBSP P. the next place we visited was CAUSEY PARK a very hard place to gain entry to the hangar . last time it was all locked up but this time there was someone there but refused any type of entry , had a feeling we had interrupted something so we headed to SELBYHOUSE FARM at STANTON. the thing to do here usually is to phone beforehand to make sure there is someone there, this we failed to do but as luck would have it the owner was working in the hangar and gave us access to see inside this alladins cave of aircraft G-MVBN MAINAIR GEMINI FLASH G-SCPD REALITY ESCAPADE G-CIES RANS ROBINSON KR2 G-BWAR DENNEY KITFOX G-MZEU RANS S6 COYOTE G-AYFE D62 CONDOR G-CCKN NICOLIER MENESTRAL G-MNWY CFM STREAK SHADOW G-BZAS ISAAC FURY 51109/YU-DLG UTVA 66 apparently the only one in the uk would have liked to take a pic but didn,t like to push my luck

not far down the road is FISHBURN which is a place you need to catch on a good flying day as most of the hangars are spotter proof. they have just built a new restaurant here and looks very smart and it seems they have had a change of ownwership since we last visited. needless to say some hangars were open and we were taken round G-CINL BEST OFF SKYRANGER SW D-EKNA MOONEY 20F D-ECIM PIPER PA28 CHEROKEE G-XALZ RANS S6 SUPER SIX G-OTRV RV6 G-ATRM CESSNA 150F G-CIPL RV9 G-AYKX PIPER PA 28 CHEROKEE G-AYYX RALLYE wreck G-BJST/AJ841 CCF HARVARD in from duxford for complete strip down and a repaint into dessert camo should look amazing

Looks like you had a good trip Bob, we headed south for the Air Britain fly-in. Stopped at Luton for a few hours and the weather was OK, but Stansted was a washout. We decided not to bother with North Weald after seeing a few reports on facebook, so headed back north calling in at Coventry and Birmingham and blue skies and sunshine

hi chris logged 52 that I needed , I tend to think if the weather is bad it could be an advantage in the respect if somebody can,t fly they have time on their hands and are too willing to show you round but if it is busy then they won,t have the time to help. couple of the places we stopped here testify to that as 2 were no-go,s last time we visited but this time was great mind you I have never been to north weald when it didn,t rain ! regards bob

Great report Bobby and a few airfield's visited- have not been to some but am planning to go to Milfield on the way home from the open golf next month and a couple of the others you have mentioned. At least you got some Balloons- I have not logged any this year. Like Chris- had intended to go to the AB Flyin but the weather put Plan "B" into force- with a visit to Luton followed by LAPx 2 and Brooklands before getting home at a very respectable 18:30 which made the wife very happy. Keep the reports coming. Happy Days Bob

I remember seeing G-ATFR way back in the early 1970s when it was a lasham based. It looked very different in those daya! Much more recently, G-CEGK has ventured as far south as Popham.
