An awful day weather wise and had an hour to spare so went to the viewing enclosure at Culdrose for an hour or so. Lots of activity including a Chipmunk putting on a superb aerobatic show for the people like me who were watching from the enclosure. It's Culdrose's Open day on the 30th which might explain all the aerial activity. An asterisk indicates a pot Merlins ZH834* ZH841 ZH843* ZJ129* Hawks - all departed within ten mins of each other XX157* XX159* XX330* Sea King ZA166* Chipmunk WK608* A couple queries - the large hangar adjacent to the viewing area but down the field a bit, had doors open and visible inside was the nose of a Harrier with "79" in white. Also, way across the field was a Wessex with what might possibly have been code "20" on its nose. Any ideas chaps? Graham,
You won't believe this but I've flown in the back seat of that Chipmunk - it used to be based at Yeovilton with the RNHF. Lt Cmdr. Don Sigournay was in command (Sea Harrier and Sea Fury pilot, at the time) and we went for an aerobatic sortie over their relief airfield, a short distance away... Brilliant flight, aircraft, pilot...
This all took place on 13th November 1997....
Cheers mate.
Bill

What a coincidence Bill, whomever was flying her yesterday was a heck of a pilot, great display for sure.
