seen at Seaforth docks yesterday was new Chinook ZK562, I assume offloaded from ship, it will make its way to Odiham at some point and may carry a US Hex code and reg on SBS

Cheers, another one to look out for.Although RAF Chinooks are probably my biggest spotting frustration! Living about 3 miles from Odiham, I see the Chinooks every day (probably like a large number of us on this site) but I never get to ID them. Very annoying!
I've seen all the ZA and ZD Chinooks, most of the ZH examples but only one of the ZK ones.
Maybe we should try and arrange a visit...?

Like you I've seen most but there are a few that elude me so what about this as a thought. I'm in the fortunate position (some might say misfortune) to work from home, I'm here most of the day and I also have the SBS running, most of the time.... Well the Chinook's always show up on the sidebar but hardy ever show on the screen, but what if we set up a log (on AFA) for all Chinook contacts for the next week or so to see if that helps to clear the fleet? We could log date and time and registration.... Anyone else interested in helping? Bill

Might be interesting to try- I can't help much as I don't have a box. But I'm happy to try listing any that I see. The occasional Chinook also appears on FR24 which I can add to the list if I notice them !
Cheers

ZK562 went to Liverpool for fuel yesterday then returned to Seaforth Docks, leaving there at 10.00 this morning for Odiham. Usual delivery route for the HC6s is via the Brize overhead and I sighted a Chinook inbound to Odiham from that direction at 11.30 but with Mode S switched off and another also without Mode S inbound from the same direction at 12.54. Two Chinooks with Mode S switched on were active around 12.30 - ZA683 & ZA707 with the unusual call signs of Dumb 01 & 02 respectively. Anyone know if/when 562 arrived?

Well apparently it went into Odiham today with a c/s of Boeing 22. Reports state it carrying RAF serial plus N707 still visible...
Reported from ADU.
HTH's....

PlanePlotter more than often shows them, happy to help out if possible. We get quite a few across Devizes International.

Ok, my first request then...
Anyone know which Chinook orbited a couple of miles north of Odiham at 8.20 this morning? It was over Old Basing and I would guess at about 1,500ft.
Thanks
Ps. Do we want to keep posting on this thread or create a new one in the appropriate area?

Yes no worries, Jeff.
Because I live just to the north of Odiham I see all those in and out from/to the north. Unfortunately not the ones along the railway that you'll pick up.
But never mind- someone somewhere might be able to help with the odd one. Cheers

Apologies guys... I started this suggestion and then promptly walked away... Well it was business related!!!
Anyway, I'll have the SBS running tomorrow and I'll endeavour to post any contacts (times and height) on this thread.
Cheers lads and let's hope we get the Chinook fleet, fleeted!!!
