I have found these old black and white photos taken in 1950 at RAF St. Athan. Help required in finding out the types of aircraft please. Photo taken in 1950 by the hangers on East Camp RAF St. Athan Photo taken in 1950 on the airfield West Camp RAF St. Athan Thanks Les

Hi Les,
Well the four engined lump is a York, in RAF colours. As for the twin with the gentleman standing by the nose, that's a slight puzzle. My initial reaction is beaufighter/Blenheim but to be very honest I wouldn't put money on it... Think we'll have to dig into the archives to work this one out....

I agree with Bill and the Avro York, The bottom picture I think they are Beaufighters as they have a shorter nose then the Blenheim

Just consulted the Oracle, almost positively a Beaufighter... Not sure about the one at the far end, with the pretruding nose...
Good photo's mate... Got any more?

Thanks Bill and Carmedic. Only these two photos found after my uncle died. He was based there in 1949/1950. I will leave this post here but should be in old photos / logs. I have put a poor quality photo of G-ABSI at Manchester 1937/1939 in the old photos section. Les

the one at the far end is a Beaufighter Mk X which had a longer nose
