Gents, a couple of you messaged me asking about this persistent problem. I too had this issue a couple of weeks ago and have it back now following an W10 update yesterday. You have your photos saved in a folder yet when you click to open a specific image file, you get various error messages and the file refuses to open. This usually occurs following a Windows 10 update.
I went onto a Microsoft help forum yesterday and it appears to be a well documented glitch although as yet, MS can't offer much of a remedy. What they can offer just now is simple and does work. If you right click on your image file, you will get a box full of choices open up. Select "open with" and then select "MS Office Picture Manager" or "Windows Photo Viewer", this will then open up the image file for you to edit.
I appreciate that many of you are way more PC savvy than I will ever be, and have no doubt already worked this out but for those like me who are left scratching their collective heads when such things happen, then hopefully this will resolve the issue. Thanks
