HI Tomcat,
Looks like they've removed the port engine from the Challenger... Think it was this machine they used in the 'Kingsman' movie... If there are any movie buffs out there, Kingsman's church massacre at the end (ish) of the film was filmed at the Garrison church here in Deepcut....
Its really strange when you've got some major stars (Colin Firth, Samuel L Jackson & others) in a tiny village in Surrey...
The Herc is an ex RAF machine....
Cheers.
Bill

That Herc front-end looks to have been pretty uncarefully removed from the rest of the fuselage!
Looks like there are some other bits (wing section?) in front of the stbd wing of the Challenger.
I had some of the greatest (fun) flying I have ever done in the RAF C130K's. That was probably one of them :-(

I grew up not that far from Lyneham and in the late 60's/early-mid 70's you would often see 5 or 6 in the skies around home at any one time. I would cycle out to the village of New Zealand where the lane came to a dead end right by the threshold of the main runway and the Hercs would go over your head at no more than 25-30 feet just prior to landing. Pretty sure that I saw all the original C-130Ks (66 I think) within a few months of taking up spotting

Yes 66 was the number, although one became "Snoopy" and there were a few that were lost, notably the one that crashed down the road at Colerne, after being mis-handled during a training flight in the early '70's.

Funny play on names; Fairborough... Wonder if the writer had an eye on both Fairoaks and Farnborough and couldn't decide between the two... Wonder if the flyer at the end was actually shot at Fairoaks? Bill

I saw it first last year after misreading the title as 'Reunion at Farnborough' and was astonished to see both Chobham and Fairoaks in the outside sequences. The Forge is still there at the end of my road and the cottage where Deborah Kerr 'lived' is only 10 min walk from my home. I'm told the bit where Red Buttons walks alongside a river is Shere, but where the church and village pub were is not around here.
