Bob If you visit when access is given to the aircraft area at the rear of the hotel make sure you let the hotel know your car registration. On Sunday the car park at the rear was FREE but if you had not called in hotel reception to give your car registrations they have ANPR you could get a hefty penalty charge. The Rapide used to be at the front of the hotel when it was in good nic. Les

Graham As I mentioned above to Bob it was in a reasonable condition when it was on display at the front of the Crown Plaza Hotel ( which used to be the old Speke Airport terminal building). Les

Bob Thanks for the info. I might have a drive out to Chirk to investigate. My wife wants to visit Oswestry market. "Two visits for the price of one". Will report on this site if I can get the actual evidence. Les

Les, On my last visit there a few years back there were three Rapides there G-AJBJ,G-AJCL and G-AKOE and two Nordcrins G-BAYL and G-BEDB- never thought JCL was the one off the front of the airport because of it's run down condition, that is why I thought it was the one from Chirk. Bob G-AIUL is at Chirk along with G-AJBJ and G-AKOE. The confusion arrises from it wearing AJCL many years ago. G-AJCL was destroyed in 1971 it is possible that some parts from CL may have been used in the restoration of UL. some of my photos from Chirk can be seen at www.airport-data.com/photographers/Chris+Hall:2873/18-04-10:33688:1.html?sortby=taila2zThe Rapide at Speke is a replica BAPC-280 that was built by The Aeroplane Collection and has been displayed with three different reg numbers over the years G-AJCL/ANZP/AEAJ. It is under going a full restoration and will return to its display position in front of the hotel. link to one of my photos of BAPC-280 www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/000288393.html The cockpit of the Short SD3-60 is G-SSWM

Hi Les, remember it is BAPC 280 marked as G-AJCL, the replica has no engines, control surfaces or controls
