hi, I'm sorry this has happened again, but what can these engines be used for/on, aircraft only or anything else? and if their numbers are known how can they be moved on, Don't buyers have to record serial numbers? and has been mentioned are the engines etc being stolen to order as what else if both engines were taken "whole". On a serious note for us the "spotter" fraternity, what will the witch hunt want closed down now G-INFO, airfield guides, Aviation news, I know this sounds ridiculous but to be honest no more so than closing LASSI ports of call...on the assumption that it was used as a shopping guide.
regards, dave...

For one thing Dave at least it shows in this instance that no blame if that's the right word an be levelled at LAAS Ports-of-Call. These thieves were no more using ports of call to identify strips/hangars with microlights than you or I were. I can fully understand LAAS wanting to be seen to cooperate but as has been mentioned, rather a knew jerk reaction. But at least it is on its way back in April I believe

These stolen engines, like many of the stolen executive cars from this country, find there way to the former Eastern Bloc countries

Hi Chris, they are stolen to order then I'd imagine. The thieves are going to head for the closest field where they can steal what they are looking for. That also means that a shorter distance to travel gives them less chance of being pulled over whether randomly or otherwise with a couple of Rotax engines in the back of the van.

I am hearing reports that 3 Rotax 912 engines have been stolen from Hunsdon Airfield, Essex. Again it appears that these have been professionally removed.
