Hi all
Just to keep you updated. A couple of weeks ago I emailed Middle Wallop, asking if they had a confirmed time yet (and requesting the morning tour if possible). I also asked about photography, hangar accessibility and donations so that we had all the details. Unfortunately I got no reply, so having left it 2 weeks I have just tried again. Hopefully I will get a reply and have some news soon!
Having read their initial email properly, it turns out they also need to know the colour of people's cars. So, sorry to be a pain, but could drivers please just post a reply on here, or message me, with the colour? Thanks!
Lastly, Graham, I have everyone's details apart from Kevin Jarvis. Is he a mate of yours, and if so can you please get his car make, reg and colour? Thanks.
Hopefully will have some proper info soon Cheers

Morning ZZ and as always, many thanks from all of us for your hard work in arranging this tour. My car is black in colour, I don't know Kevin Jarvis I'm afraid, I'll ask Bill and Jeff and see if h's one of their mates.

Hello again
This time I have had a vey prompt reply from Middle Wallop. They have given us the afternoon tour - 14.00-16.00. I'm sorry, I know there are members who preferred the morning and Martin who could only make the morning, and I did request this, but we have been given the afternoon.
They have said that they are waiting for an itinerary from 7 Regiment who are putting the tour together, and photography will be allowed at their direction.
There is no donation to the base, but say that a donation to the Museum of Army Flying would be appreciated. It would be good if we could club together and give a donation - anyone have any thoughts on the best way of doing this? Cheers

The Museum is a great one to visit, I've been round 3 or 4 times. I don't think a tenner a head is unreasonable seeing as we will be getting the full tour and that the base has to appoint someone to take us all around. I have a bank account I rarely use, there's nowt in it and if we all were in agreement, I could post the account name, number and sort code here and those on the trip could make their donation on line by direct transfer. I could then bring a cheque for the full amount and seeing as ZZ has arranged all of this, maybe he would consider handing it over to the base?
All we would need is who to make the cheque payable to

Got some details for you regarding the Middle Wallop visit;

What do people think about the donation suggestion? I'm more than happy with Graham's idea. I also think £10 each is fair for the tour.
However, if people can't or don't want to pay quite that much, then that's entirely up to them- but I would request everyone donates something, bearing in mind it all goes to the aviation museum. If all 25 of can donate a tenner then that would obviously be a really good amount for them.
Thanks everyone- I'll post again when I get arrival details and itinerary. Cheers

I'm quite happy with Grahams suggestion and will put in a tenner though I'm not sure he should publish his personal bank information on a public site - even if the account is empty??
Cheers

No, good point Keith. If we're going to do that then maybe he could just message the details.
Or, is it simpler to just give someone (me) the money on the day, and I'll add it up and quickly write a cheque to cover everyone?

If that's OK with you ZZ, then its fine by me.

Hi zz
I guess it's up to you and Graham but you have a tick list and collecting a tenner or more would be easy enough to do on the day as long as you don't mind walking around with a load of beer money in your pocket!! Nothing wrong with doing a cheque on the day once you know the final amount?
cheers

Donation fine by me as well.
In case they come this way, with the closure of Dishforth the last 4 based Lynx left there this morning for M Wallop (they will actually be Yeovilton based) but seem to be touring the Army Air Corps bases and are currently (16.21 local) near Wattisham. If they come this way later today they are ZE375, ZG884, ZG887 and ZG915 with the last one as the lead Ship calling Outlaw 1.
