This is the one place that I was eagerly waiting to visit,our tour was booked for 10.30 so we left Joburg in plenty of time to allow for the approx 1 hour journey.I had booked it online as there is now an indemnity form to fill in (3 pages long) which I sent back via email.When we got to Lanseria,we headed for the permit office which is just down the road from the main terminal.This is another airport that has changed since our last visit 10 years again I think due to the World Cup being held in South Africa in 2010.I had asked for and got the famous Walter to be our guide and what a star this guy is,he has the tour organised to the last detail so that nothing is missed and we were to enjoy his company for the next 5.5 hours or so.At the permits office you hand over 250 Rand and some form of photographic ID and in return you get a permit which you show to the various guards at the gates,so don't lose it.
Apart from the area where the airliner traffic parks up (Kulula & Mango) the only place that you can't get to is the Execujet area,however all is not lost because you can read virtually everything that is parked outside their huge hangar on the approach road to the airport,so first stop was a layby facing this hangar where the following were read off:

This completed one side of the airport so we went back to the permits office to collect the car and drive around to the other side where there are not so many hangars but still some quality aircraft,here Walter was unable to gain access to 2 hangars,one had a single biz but could be identified from the door and the second had 4 biz in it alas only one could be identified:

This completed one side of the airport so we went back to the permits office to collect the car and drive around to the other side where there are not so many hangars but still some quality aircraft,here Walter was unable to gain access to 2 hangars,one had a single biz but could be identified from the door and the second had 4 biz in it alas only one could be identified:

Then it was time to take Walter back to the permits office where we said our goodbyes but not before giving him 400 Rand (approx £20),it's a lot of money to the native South African's.We then retired to the rooftop restaurant at the terminal for a meal and some much needed beers where the following arrivals were logged:

Whilst we were on our tour we did make a note of the times of arrivals for the Kulula & Mango flights and these were tied up on FR24 back at the hotel,however none were needed.
