Last day in South Africa,so we made our way down to the helipad for our 10 am flight,we got there at 09.40 and after the safety instructions we were on board at 09.50 with the engine start up following right away, additional heli's noted this morning were:
ZS-RJK Jetranger 3 (our chariot for a 15 minute flight over Cape Town, superb)
ZS-INS Robinson R44
ZS-SGM Robinson R44
ZS-ROL Jetranger 2
ZS-HMB Jetranger 3
Must say many thanks to our pilot Kevin for a superb flight and my mate Geoff for the treat.
Back to Cape Town to drop the hire car off but not before a drive around the southern perimeter to see if anything else could be gleaned:
ZS-ONG Falcon 50EX
V5-TTO Lear Jet 45
ZS-POX Cessna 152
ZS-KXF Cessna 152
N608BC Cessna Citation 560-V
ZS-CHV Beech G36 Bonanza
ZS-PKR Falcon 2000
ZS-DVY Cessna 172E
ZS-NAA Cessna T210N
ZU-EXN Vans RV10
ZS-PSU Robinson R44
ZS-RLS Bell 407
ZS-FFU Cessna U206C
After checking in we viewed from the observation area until it was time to go to the gate:
A6-ECV B777 Emirates
G-CIVN B747 British Airways
V5-API Cessna U206
TC-JNI A330 Turkish
ZS-AAM Raytheon RB390 Premier 1A
ET-ARF Boeing 787-8 Ethiopian
ZS-SNN Katana
The Turkish A330 (TK59) was our ride to Istanbul via Durban where we only noted an Emirates B777 that we had seen earlier in the trip at Jo'burg (A6-EBO).
The last part of my trip report will be in the European section of this Forum as it is approx 13 hours @ Istanbul and what we noted on arrival at Heathrow.
To sum up,South Africa was every bit as good as i thought it would be,everything was a lot cheaper than in the UK (eg unleaded petrol 65p per litre).
All the airfield's management teams/hangar owners/pilots etc were brilliant, the South African's love flying and are very keen to show off their aircraft,we didn't miss much at those places where hangars were open and I for one would love to go again in the not too distant future.
Any questions about South Africa, please do not hesitate to ask.
