Blackbushe Airport could build a lounge area, meeting rooms, refreshment facility and cloakrooms for passengers
Blackbushe Airport has revealed plans to improve its passenger facilities and build new aircraft maintenance hangars.
Documents submitted to Hart District Council by agent Terence O’Rourke Ltd state the airport, which is now owned by Blinkbushe Ltd, currently handles between 10,000 and 50,000 flight movements a year for a mixture of commercial and private aircraft.
It added the proposed development would be achieved in two phases and rationalise the site’s layout, releasing areas to provide better facilities for passengers, operational accommodation and aircraft maintenance hangars.
The first phase would see the construction of purpose-built facilities including a lounge area, meeting rooms, refreshment facility and cloakrooms.
If approved, the new hangars would be up to 10 metres high and be used to service the Blink fleet aircraft, which are currently flown off-site for servicing and maintenance, in addition to providing services for flying schools and visiting private aircraft.
For the second phase it is proposed to develop up to a further 9,003 square metres of maintenance hangar space.
Terence O’Rourke Ltd said the improvements and provision of maintenance services would inevitably attract more people to the airport site.
“Although the number of additional aircraft movements is not known at this stage, the sizes of aircraft using the site will remain the same and it is not anticipated that the commercial flight limit will be increased as a result of the proposals,” it added.
Hart District Council is currently considering the proposals to improve the airport. A date has not yet been set for a decision.
Lets hope some thing comes of this
