It was great to put some new faces to names, and huge thanks to the base for giving us such almost unlimited access. Hands together for Phil (ZZ) who organised the tour today, many thanks ZZ.
This is my preliminary log, I know for sure I've missed at least one Lynx in the storage hangar and the rearmost Lynx (?) of the group of four outside the final hangar that we walked around the outside of before heading back to the car park. Asterisk indicates a new frame. Any additions, corrections, etc, gratefully received.

Did anyone manage to identify the yellow Eurocopter (Air Ambulance?) that overflew as we were going back to the cars? Cheers Phil

Phil, it was G-HIOW and not G-WLTS as thought by me which is a Bell 429. The latter was showing on my Plane Plotter mobile as being in the area and the paint jobs are very similar. Sorry for the mix up Kev and Dylan. Plane Plotter's tracks are often way out due to a lot of the ground stations having clocks that are miles out, which in turn gives false positions on the chart.

Nice to meet up again Graham (even though I was with the other group!). Also, surprise to see Phil (rugbyref) again after many a long year.

Nice team photo Graham- add names to the latter would be a help for us up this neck of the woods. As well as for the 254 who did not go to MW. Happy Days Bob

On the way there, at about 08.00, we passed a Gazelle on a low-loader, heading NE on the M3.
Any ideas anyone?

Hi Bob
I'll have a look tomorrow and add the names I know...;0) I have to admit that I'm crap with names - someone can tell me their name and five seconds later I can't remember it. An age thing I suspect....LOL

Morning Guys,
Just wanted to add my thanks and appreciation to Phil (ZZ) for organizing such a superb visit yesterday. The whole thing ran like clockwork from beginning to end. So well done Phil.
Really regretting not having sat in the Apache cockpit now!!! Would have made a great Facebook photo!!! Anyway, think I was too busy counting the Apache's in the hangar at that point as Viv (aka: Linda) had 13 at one point, what will we do with him!!!
Great to meet so many members, lets hope we can get another one organized real soon.
Did anyone make a note of the Army personnel's names? Lt Col Rupert ?, RSM ? Think it would be a good idea to drop them a line to thank them personally...
Haven't completed my log yet but with afternoon visits to Old Sarum (full access) and Thruxton (walk round Heli Air) I'm pretty sure I'm close, if not more than, 50!!!
Great day - Great company.
Cheers lads.
Bill

Bill I echo those words mate, great day out, and really well set up by zz and the army guys. Indeed we will have to meet up again some time in the summer - is anybody going to RIAT or Farnborough? I never thought of that making a good Facebook picture, will have to remember next time I'm allowed inside a chopper... Won't be an Apache again! Lol. Cheers guys Dylan
