Can I add my thanks to ZZ for organising this for us. Great to put some faces to names. Yes, the BATUS Gazelle was my last one. Well worth hanging around for its return as it was also the only thing I made on the trip, but equally the only thing I had hoped to make. Would have made new based Apache ZJ188 if I hadn't seen it over the house inbound from Wattisham when it was delivered to Wallop a couple of weeks ago. Even if I hadn't seen the Gazelle the trip would still have been very worthwhile. Thanks again.

On the way there, at about 08.00, we passed a Gazelle on a low-loader, heading NE on the M3. Any ideas anyone?
Hi Phil,
We saw that one (passed us at the Popham services) - so if you do find out please let me know...
Cheers mate.

You're all vey welcome- as I said, it was only a couple of e-mails on my part.
Today I e-mailed the lady I liased with to set up the visit (Pen, who met us at Access Control), thanked her and asked her to pass on our thanks to everyone involved. She said she would and she was glad we enjoyed the visit.
Bill, will do mate.
Dave, nice to finally meet you. We'll have to have a drink in The Crown sometime. Perhaps after your Japan trip you can make me envious with your photos!
cheers

A wonderful tour and many thanks ZZ for your efforts.
I think it was great that most of us were happy to contribute to keeping the few flying. I'm sure the museum will always do well with the passing trade. On the number crunching side - there were 16 new to me - I was really surprised at ZK067 which explains why I never saw it on the production line at Warton - everything either side is a Typhoon - mostly Saudi production in 2009.
Thanks again Cheers Keith

I think the G.I Lynx in hangar 4, coded X, behind the blue screen should be XZ212?

I think the G.I Lynx in hangar 4, coded X, behind the blue screen should be XZ212? Yes it should be. Its a ground instructional frame used by 671Sq. Of the other frames in use for ground training at Wallop, Lynx XZ613 resides in Stockwell Hall, XZ672 with the fire section and ZD273 is in theory in use in the 667Sq hangar. No other g.i. frames appear to exist there any more. The gaggle of Lynx inside Hangar 2 which we did not enter were being prepared for RTP (reduction to produce) and will soon join those outside the back of the hangar (though XZ184 - the only one outside the hangar with rotors still attached - is due to be placed on the Wallop main gate shortly). Didn't actually count those inside but there should in theory have been at least 5 which have been reported as undergoing RTP but which were not outside in the line. Hopefully these will become clear in the fullness of time as they eventually emerge outside. As to the Gazelle on the A303 & M3 my guess is that it is one of XZ290, XZ345 & ZB689 all of which were recently reported with the MPSU at Wallop but none of which we seem to have logged. Again this should turn up in time. But since the last thing my crystal ball showed was the Titanic arriving in New York Harbour, anything is possible. ZZ- drink in the Crown a good idea. My Japanese trip will hopefully put a new slant on things & helpfully all the remaining flying Phantoms are now at a single base.
