Hi folks, just to say hello from Melksham (7 miles down the road from Graham). Found this site through Fighter Control and hope to be able to contribute something.
I am solely into military/government and I tend to spend a lot of my spare time glued to a certain other forum and to virtual radar sites - punctuated by occasional rushes to the window, outside, etc.
Unfortunately, my airfield visits are few and far between these days, though I did manage to get up to Fairford for the recent B-52s and will be going for a stay at Mildenhall in a few weeks time.
To Graham and the rest of the Team, it looks a well thought out site and I hope everything goes well for both you and for us members.

Welcome rh226, thanks for joining. Do you do civvie stuff as well, considering you're practically underneath the airways for LHR, CPT etc? Dylan

Hi Dylan,
Thanks for your welcome.
I'm afraid that I no longer have any interest in civvy stuff (except Government). I did start out that way, of course, being at school only 5 minutes walk from Elstree for a year, and then just 15 minutes cycle ride from Heathrow. But, I'm afraid that I got corrupted and military took over more and more.
I had a 25 year break and only started up again in 2010, but there was no enthusiasm for anything other than military.
As far as living under the airways is concerned, I am just a trifle too far South to be able to see very much and the weather tends to be somewhat cloudier than nearer to London. However, I do have the compensation of being able to see things on the military route TR1 (clouds permitting). Also, inbounds to Brize Norton from the South and West come directly over my house at around 6000ft.
Regards,
Bob

Welcome Bob, great to have you on board with us. Rather like you, I had a huge break in the hobby, hung up the binoculars and note book in 1980 when the first missus came along and only picked them up again four years ago. I did attend quite a few airshows in that fallow period but more as a photographer than a spotter. My dear old Mum was clearing a load of stuff out about six months ago when she came across an old cardboard box which contained all my old logs so the past months have been spent updating the spreadsheets.
