Hi folks
Just back from the Yeovilton airshow and what a cracking day it was. Highlights for me in the flying display were the Pitts Special (that guy must have a cast iron stomach), the Sea Vixen and the 2 French Navy Rafales. The weather was a bit dodgy at times but the Reds caught a gap in the clouds and were able to do their full display. Lynx/Wildcat were a bit thin on the ground this year but the static was pretty reasonable as was the Somerset scrumpy!
As for all the MAA/CAA concerns - this years flying display looked no different to previous years so there is still hope for airshows over terra firma in years to come.
I have to say that in the 46 years or so that I've been going to airshows - today was by far the easiest journey I've ever had by car - the trick is to avoid the A303 and signage. I took the back roads and just past the Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford took a left into Queen Camel then a right which leads you to the Harrier car park. I never stopped once till I parked up. Even if you are on the 303, I would recommend you turn off at the MacDonalds roundabout and head for Queen Camel.
Cheers
