I have just been informed that the pilot passed away this afternoon, he had been making a good recovery after surgury last Tuesday and was in good spirits when visited by friends yesterday.
RIP Big Nige

Gents, in view of the fact that the chap involved has very sadly passed away, I think it would be a mark of respect to remove the shot of the wrecked helicopter if that's OK with you? I've had PM's from two members asking for the same. Thanks for your understanding.
Kind regards to all and condolences to his family and friends

For the regulars at Breighton, Big Nige was a very well liked and respected member of the aviation community and a very skillful helicopter pilot. When he wasn't flying he always had time for the enthusiast/photographer, happy to chat and show them around the heli he was flying at the time. Those of you who were at the Cold War Jets open day in May 2014, you might remember this. G-LEDR by Chris Hall, on Flickr Blue Skies Nigel, you will be missed by many
